		<description>I think it would depend on the food you were buying, some foods like lamb for example are always outdoor reared and usually grass fed so in this instance I would go for local. Take bananas though which are heavily sprayed with chemicals and I would definitely go for organic.

After that I like this credo: (I wish I could remember where it came from)
If not local, then organic. 
If not organic, then family (or small) farm. 
If not family farm, then local business.
If not a local business, then fair trade. 

I also take in consideration the level of processing and packaging but don&#039;t get me wrong, I cheat too.</description>

Typically, I&#039;ll choose organic as my first preference ... but I don&#039;t know if that&#039;s truly the wise choice.
