Yay!!! I have so eagerly anticipated the beginning of my farm shares that it was all I could do to keep from blogging about its impending arrival. But, it is finally here. Actually, it’s been here since 6:30 this morning! Our doorman phone rang, waking us up from a very nice slumber, and told us we had a delivery. Yay!!! My Farm Share is here!!!
Here are some photos of our goodies…
Clock-wise from top center: An unknown (to me) hearty green, napa cabbage, garlic scapes, radishes, baby greens, bok choy and romaine lettuce.
What is this (see photo below)??? The stalk is very hearty but the leaves are quite tender. If the stalk is edible, it would probably need to be braised but the leaves are so tender, it seems that they can be simply sauteed. Please leave a comment if you know what this is. Also, any suggestions on how to use the bunch would be much appreciated.

Update: I just found out from Farm Share that the vegetable in question is Red Russian Kale. You really do learn something new every day!

I was going to say kale. There are so many different varieties.

We used to use an organized garden in CA until our gardens got going. Then we had so much we could have sold produce. Now, Kim and I live in Farm Land NY and get our produce from local farmers. Nice. We also have an herb garden. Our produce garden still has not gotten going. Sigh.

That’s Kale. For sure. Watch out for earwigs, pincher bugs if you live out west.
